Quotable Thursday #3 - May 7, 2009

To join, post a quotation (with name of author) on your own blog, then come back here and link to this blog (and all its readers) through Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post.

Today, a quotation from Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931), Libyan-American poet/writer: A little knowledge that acts is worth infinitely more than much knowledge that is idle.

For those of you who understand Urdu, here’s a saying with a somewhat similar message: Neem mullah khatre iman, neem hakim khatre jaan. A more colourful version of the English proverb: A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Meanwhile, Thursdays are bringing in some wonderful quotes on all kinds of subjects. Here are two of my favourites contributions so far.

From Bonnie Bonsai of Adage, Maxim and Quote: It is not how much you do, but how much Love you put into the doing that matters. — Mother Teresa

And from Alana of
Ireland: Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you. -- Oscar Wilde

And now, it's your turn to add a new quote on your own blog, then link back to this one via Mr. Linky (look below).

  2. Thanks, Rosidah, for your "dreamy" quotation. So far it's just you and me - sigh. The other 2 links are to my own blogs!! Still early in Europe and America - I'm hopeful we'll get a few more quotes together for Week 3. :)

  3. Keep your hopes high, Pamposh! I hope there will be a lot more links here by tomorrow. Sometimes it takes time to get some things rolling. Besides, I think that it's the thought which counts :).
